I launched the original FlakPhoto blog in the summer of 2006. The premise was simple — I featured a new photographer every day. I’ve learned a lot since then, and the FlakPhoto project has taken many winding turns, but my mission hasn’t wavered: I show photography and promote the people who practice it.
When I was starting out, a handful of photographers wrote blogs. Remember those days? Blogs have mostly gone away, and every photographer seems to be blogging on Instagram these days. For better or worse, it’s still the place to be. Finding the good stuff on IG is harder than ever. But there are still many exciting imagemakers sharing work there every day.
Hopefully, I can put some signal in the noise. I haven’t written one of these photographer round-ups in a while, and it seemed like it was time. I’ll do more of these this fall. Thanks again to everyone who has shared their work with me!
As always, if you know someone I should feature here, please drop me a line. I'm always looking and love seeing new images. If you're new to FlakPhoto Digest, please subscribe! And if you like what you see, give these folks a follow. They'll appreciate the audience, and you'll have some new inspiration in your IG feed. Happy Sunday!

I would love to hear which photographers resonated most for you. Let me know what you think! Take care, friends, and have a great week.
Good morning. The windowsill tomato with the sheer flowered curtains just took me back to the yellow-walled kitchen of my childhood. I love them all. Thank Andy.
I’m a people photographer and I like it!
