Hey friends, just a really quick post today. I need your feedback.
Something I used to do back in the day was share photography community news on my social media feeds—calls for entry, exhibition opportunities, grant deadlines, community news—that kind of thing.
The changing winds of social media have diminished my desire to share this kind of thing on Facebook or Twitter as I once did. But I still feel the urge to digest the good stuff that comes across my desk, and I’ve begun to contemplate how I might reimagine sharing that information with the photo community.
I’ve been considering using a chat app for this—something mobile and short-form that would easily broadcast links without algorithmic interference. I’m not sure if that even sounds interesting, but I would like to hear from you.
If I were to do this, would there be an ideal chat app? Does it even sound like a good idea? Or would it only add noise to your digital life? Please let me know what you think. Thanks in advance for sharing your thoughts with me.
Argh no!
I’d rather get your content in a newsletter or on insta. Can’t face another app and in a chat app you get, er, too much chat!!
So wouldn’t work for me, but others might like it.
I'm so disillusioned with social these days. I prefer email for all info - especially anything important!
