Interview me. As the former publisher of CameraArts (4 yrs.) magazine and the current publisher of Shadow & Light Magazine (10-years+), as well as a teacher, poet, coach, publisher, fine art photographer, etc., it may be time. I have never been interviewed.

How about someone who knows what they’re doing and these days is just trying to stay a float? How about someone most of us can relate to—or at least me. Someone honest and hard working? Bet there’s a thousand subscribed who fit the bill. How about it?

Brian’s comment is aligned with what I interpreted your request for suggestions to mean. Interview working artists/photographers who aren’t often or ever asked, if you’re looking for a different perspective. Giving voice to those who don’t have one outside of their art is noble and courageous. Of course, you’ll never please everyone!!😉 But I love your posts & ideas!!

I'd like to nominate John Pemberton, the founder of F2.8 Press (https://www.f28press.com), who is based in Rushville Indiana. Besides his own very thoughtful photography, he has established a small "boutique" publishing house that draws on the work of previously unpublished photographers. He was inspired by the publishing of low-cost "pamphlet" booklets of photos that he saw in England, wanted to see if that model would fly in the USA. He did an interview on TheDigitalStory podcast a while back but a lot has happened since then.

Dennis Darling's magnum opus on the Terezin Nazi ghetto in Poland is one of the most important photography books of the 21st century. To open its pages is to experience awe on a Salgado level. Dennis was an early, and lasting mentor in my work, so I admit to a bias, but I can't imagine any sentient being not being overwhelmed by the magnitude of his achievement. His photographs hold the power to do justice to his subjects. His earlier works were featured on NPR. Here are links to the book and to NPR.

I would like you to consider interviewing me. I've been a full-time fine art landscape/nature photographer since 1976. My dad, Les Blacklock, was a pioneer in color nature photography. I've done 19 books (many of which have won international awards), dozens of calendars, had over 35 solo exhibitions, and taught workshops for places such as Palm Beach Photographic Workshops. My work has been featured in many magazine and t.v. interviews. You can see my work at https://craigblacklock.art/ and https://blacklockgallery.com/. Because I work primarily on book projects about places, I've become a generalist, developing my skills in landscapes, close-ups, wildlife, and now drone photography. My current work is abstract, derived from images of reflections on Lake Superior, and enhanced using AI sharpening and enlarging software. An exhibition from this work opens at Joseph Nease Fine Art Gallery in Duluth, July 26.
