Hi Andy, me again! I want recommend you to see "a choice of weapon" a documentary from hbo. It has very interesting info about Gordon works and talks about these photos you shared with us
I'd love a copy. I'm a HS history teacher and my classes always enjoy a lesson on Parks' Segregation Series. In fact, some of my students are researching the identity of the mystery women and baby in the candid photo he took in the Atlanta airport terminal: https://speakerdeck.com/oripsolob/gordon-parks-segregation-series-complete
I want the book because I hear songs when I see the pictures. It would be fun to find the right pairings like a sommelier. Jazz, Blues, Gospel, R&B, it jumps off the page.
Thank you for introducing me to this amazing photographer! I would love a copy of A Choice of Weapons! His photos actually reminds me of the situation of a portion of the Mauritian population who are of African descent and are often described as the forgotten ones of the economic development of Mauritius, as we have been governed mostly by Hindu-Mauritians since our independence.
Check out some of my photos which capture the Afro-Mauritians or creoles as they are called here. Many of them still live in precarious conditions and nevertheless I am always amazed by the children who seem to have the time of their lives as they enjoy themselves with nothing much. In August 2020 many Mauritians, a majority of creoles, demonstrated against the government for their inaction.
I would love to win a copy of this. Huge fan of Gordon Parks’ work. I would love to share his work with the Teen Interns at Platteforum. We do a bi-yearly Month of Photography workshop with them and they would be so inspired by his work. Pick me pick me!
I shamefully admit that I hadn’t heard of Gordon Parks until I saw your post. However, I am intrigued and would love to receive a copy of the book if chosen. I can see how diving into photo books can be an enormous learning experience that can broaden one’s perspective on the world and encourage photographers in their craft. I have a lot to learn! Thanks for considering me. ✌️
Big fan of Gordon Parks work, every image is so evocative and inspires a whole story. As a creative in the photography world in London I often get a chance to speak with young people interested in delving into photography and film. Would love to have the book to share this with them and inspire someone to follow their dream. Regardless thanks for the book reco, looks awesome
Hi Andy!! I am a documentary photographer from Bolivia who recently moved to Oregon, Wisconsin. I am big fan of Gordon Parks and went to Minneapolis to check out the exhibit!! The book is great and it will be a treasure to have it in my "special" photography books collection!!
I read the autobiography "A Choice of Weapons," which is a book about Gordon Parks. "A Choice of Weapons" chronicles the development of Gordon Parks' decision to use photography to battle poverty, prejudice, and ignorance. His autobiographical account of the many turning points in his life, the choices he made - both good and shameful, could easily be the life many others. Gordon Parks inspired me to pick up a camera because of his powerful journey and impact.
Even if I haven't reached the same levels of impact as Gordon Parks, my work with my camera has still made a difference. I've inspired others through my photography, and my ability to influence and uplift others is a testament to the power of my craft. I'll keep capturing moments and making a positive impact!
I would love to have a copy of Gordon Parks' book and work because his life story and photography are incredibly inspiring to me. Having his book would allow me to delve deeper into his experiences, insights, and artistic vision, which could further motivate and inform my own creative journey.
As a first year photography student, I had the pleasure of being able to attend the gallery opening for Gordon Parks work in NYC. I first discovered him during my history of photography class and was amazed that someone covered black culture in such an authentic transparent way. Being able to see his work in person was an experience that I’ll always cherish. Possibly having his work in book form would be an added plus to cap off a good end to my school year!
Greetings! I must say I have been looking at your photos as a historian and documentary photographer, and your photos have really inspired me because they showcase the rich tapestry of life, culture, and history, offering a window into worlds both familiar and foreign, evoking emotions and sparking curiosity with each frame. I would love the opportunity to talk with you more about your journey and experience.

I'll check that out! Thanks, Tati. https://youtu.be/kZehOkTyrgY?si=OIy8F4Nea5q6wkV4
I have a copy of A Choice Of Weapons I’ve been meaning to read. Parks was incredible!
Besides his photography, Parks was also an author and film director. His best-known film was the "blaxploitation" film "Shaft" (1971).
Didn’t know that… thanks

Would love a copy of Parks book for my library. I’m a photographer and life long learner.
Every photographer I look up to references Gordon, from heisler to winters. I guess I just need to learn!

I’m a photographer and a longtime Gordon Parks devotee. I had the opportunity to meet him twice when he was in Atlanta. I would love to have his book.
