Love Joey Seils' work! Thanks for highlighting so many great artists, Andy.
I've been quiet-quitting Instagram for a while😬, but despite its many downsides, it's still the easiest way to showcase my work. Would love to hear what you think🙌🏻!
Haha, totally. I have handled that by unfollowing people who follow me if they have not posted in 9-12 months (unless I REALLY like their work). And if I unfollow in that case, I remove them as a follower). Otherwise, followers stay on (a couple of exceptions). Definitely lessens the guilt.
I only look at regular feed (no stories or reels swiping for me, I’m old school) but I do still pop on everyday just for a bit to see photography. I don’t spend much time there, though.
I also post every day there (and here on Notes) even though the number of likes I get can typically be counted on one hand (good thing I’m not there for the likes 😉).
On IG I’m @kewtiebird just as I am here and elsewhere.
I've made a point of just posting something then uninstalling it off my phone for about a week until I'm ready to do something again - I just found myself going down rabbit holes of tiktok rehashes of people injuring themselves (which I like a little too much).
Photography and art in general on Substack Notes has nicely started to replace it - there's some genuinely good stuff on here that wouldn't get a look in otherwise.
Love your work and appreciate the community you’ve created! I’m actually getting into Substack as a way to connect and share work. I’m trying with Instagram still, it’s not the worst but wish it were better.

Thank you Suzy!
You're most welcome, Joey, fantastic work🙋🏼♀️!
I’m still resisting the urge to go back although I know I’m missing out on so much
I’ve been spending time culling who I follow. That has resulted being able to see more stuff that resonates and a better experience.

Same but I have weird unnecessary guilt over unfollowing people who follow me, ha.

i’m pausing my time on instagram for awhile. i love photography but following others in the industry causes me so much overwhelm.
Good for you. Knowing your limits is half the battle. Thanks for reading, Nichole!
Andy, you're often looking for new photographers so I thought i'd throw my hat in the ring.
