Five Photographers and a Book of Trees
Getting back into the groove with a photographer roundup and a photobook rec from Hoxton Mini Press
It’s raining in Madison today — One of those lazy, stay inside, binge The Great British Baking Show kinds of days. That’s fine by me, since I’m still recovering from an ankle injury and won’t be hiking outside anytime soon. But it feels good to be getting back into the groove with the newsletter after so many weeks away. That’s how it goes sometimes: you need to take a break to get back to work. I don’t think I’ve sent a newsletter on a Saturday since I’ve been writing on Substack. Is this a good day for you all to read? I guess we’ll find out.
I’m keeping things brief and rounding up another FlakPhoto Five for you. I haven’t written one of these in a few weeks, so for those of you who are new, here's how it works: I recommend five photographers whose work I've been following on IG and drop links to their profiles so my readers can follow them. I love doing this because it drives eyes their way, helps them grow their audience, and people seem to like it.
and even mentioned it in their podcast:As always, if you know someone I should feature here, drop me a line so I can check out their work. I'm always looking and love seeing new images. If you're new to FlakPhoto Digest, please subscribe. And if you like what you see, give these folks a follow. They'll appreciate the audience, and you'll have some new inspiration in your feed. Have a great weekend!
One more thing…
Many of you know that I’m a bona fide treehugger, so I am very much looking forward to seeing Sophie Howarth’s new book. Have you heard about this? Looking at trees is one of my actual favorite things to do, and looking at pictures of trees is a close second, so this book is firing on all cylinders as far as I’m concerned. Plus, Sophie has lined up a murderer’s row of photographers. I can’t wait to see this one, and I suspect some of you will dig it. You can read more about the book and see page spreads on the Hoxton Mini Press website. Congrats, Sophie!
Okay, that’s all for today. Enjoy the weekend, friends. Stay warm and take care!
