I love seeing artists’ early work, especially favorite photographers. It’s interesting to see how they evolve over the years and what influenced them at an early age. Also, I always appreciate seeing street photography of the distant past.
I am a great admirer of the early American photographers and would love the book to digest Stephen’s work which I find fascinating. I love how he captured the everyday and the ordinary without affectation, showing us life as it was, just how he saw it, flat, raw, simple. I love this style and wonder if I could ever take an image without trying to impress anyone. I have much to learn from him about the deliberately mundane; you do not need the extraordinary - the ordinary is captivating enough. I could look at his work forever. The image of the woman with the scowling face. That is just insane!.
Why the Stephen Shore book? I show his work to my students every single semester, and have for years. I would love to show work from when he was younger, even the age of my students and help them realize they too have a unique vision, and sharing it is a gift they could share, just like Stephen did from a young age, and it just kept getting better.
Congratulations and thank you for your newsletter, I enjoy reading it very much! 🙏🏼 Steven Shore is a master, I’m curious how he looked at the world in his early work.
Thanks for the opportunity to win this book. I am completely unfamiliar with Steven Shore’s work or his book. I am interested in street photography though after reading @lionelsmint (Neil Milton’s) blogs which are so good. Largely because of this I did a year’s college course on photography and I regard every day out there with my camera, and every book, as an education. I’m sure I would love Steven Shore’s early work. I would be grateful if you would consider this humble offering as worthy of your consideration. Much appreciated. S.
I love Stephens work but i especially love seeing great photographers early images and seeing their development. I hope nobody ever sees my "early work" :)
He’s probably my favorite photographer that works with color. The hues in his work make the time and place come alive. It’s informed me as a photographer who mainly shoots in color.
It's Stephen Shore. Why say more? ;)
Indeed!

Oooh! Longtime fan of his work — would love to sit with this and get a sense of his earlier eye.
Seeing the early work of someone who has such notoriety today is a really special thing, would be wonderful to get my hands on it. Happy 3rd birthday!

Learning about (new to me) photographers is always an inspiration!

Ha!
Love Shore's work, and the early reviews of this book have made it sound thrilling.
Inspiration - viewing others work always inspires me to do more with my own work.
