Giving voice to the idea that being awake, aware and curious is essential to good photography is cleansing, I’m sure as much for the writers as any reader. Thanks for bringing these artists and their expressions to our line of sight.
Thanks for reading, Davin. I agree; these two are terrific. I love reading interviews and listening to conversations, so I will continue to consider how to put artists’ voices front and center in the newsletter. Cheers!
Andy, I have been following you on Substack from the beginning of your time here. The one word that occurs to me whenever I read your posts is generosity. You are a generous man. This conversation between Sophie and Menka is another example of your generosity. They and you have given me much to think about and act upon. Thank you for that.
Wonderful article! It’s perfectly timed for me as I’m working right now on creating my own newsletter all about finding wonder in unassuming places through my photography practice and how doing so has helped me in my recovery from chronic illness and burnout.
I kind of stumbled into “mindful photography” on my own and for my mental and physical health but it’s interesting to read the discussion about how increased attention and appreciation for everyday wonders can actually have a greater impact on others around us and the world.
I enjoyed Sophie’s book The Mindful Photographer but I didn’t know about her new one until now - I just ordered a copy. I also orders Losing Eden and put a few of the other book recommendations on hold at my library. Can’t wait to dig in to them.
Thanks for the book recommendation! I just picked up Your Best Digital Life. It looks great and couldn't have come at a better time for me.
Wonderful! I’m looking forward to reading that book too. Thanks for looking Mike. I appreciate it.
Thanks so much for this. Just ordered Sophie's book!
Nice. Which one?

Very nice introduction to this. I read it while lying at the terrace, under the pine trees, and truly enjoyed the read.
Loved this and love artists and thinkers interviewing each other.

Another insightful and meaningful article. Really wonderful Andy.

Thanks so much for the note today, Laurence — I appreciate your kind words and support. And thank you for reading my newsletter! It means a lot.
Really loved this! It was so lovely to read about what these women have to say. Thanks for sharing
Thank you for looking!
Similar vibes in Jenny Odell’s ‘How to Do Nothing: Resisting the Attention Economy’. I am adding some of these suggestions to my reading list. Danke!
Absolutely! I read it in hardcover and loved it. Thanks for reminding me about that book—it's a great one. I'm glad you enjoyed this, Curtis!
These ideas resonate strongly with me. I think you've shown me people who can explain to me what I do!
That's wonderful. I hope you read these books!
Terrific piece. So many concepts and media to bookmark and savor. Thank you, as always, Andy, for opening my eyes (and heart!).

Excellent! Thanks for reading, Rachel!
Lots of interesting thoughts and I want to get all the books ;) But I don’t like to overthink things, I just like to do it…
