Monday Muse: Deborah Parkin
On horses, slowing down, and staying creative
Years ago, I published a photoblog. Remember those? The premise was simple: a photo a day with some links to see more of that artist’s work. Instagram changed everything, so I’m trying something new: the Monday Muse, a visual inspiration for your email inbox. No algorithms, no ads. Just a picture to start your week. I don’t remember how Deborah Parkin and I met each other. She was part of a portraiture exhibition I curated at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in 2013, and we lost touch sometime after that. Last year, we reconnected, and it’s been nice to see her blogging on Substack. Deborah’s black-and-white work always captivated me.
I wasn’t familiar with her Horse series until I read her latest post about creative productivity. Read this when you have time. It’s a lovely way to start the week. You can see more of Deborah’s work on her website and Instagram. Please take a look when you have a moment. I’m sure she’ll appreciate it. Take care!

Lovely work, thank you.
I was so happy to see and read that you featured Debra Parkin’s works! My gallery has been representing her work in the US for many years and you can see it all on the website susanspiritusgallery.com
