like characters in a play-- stunning how they are peering in different directions- like they are in their own separate worlds, yet united by the picture frame. formalism is alive in these photos. Yet hey still seem unstaged, unlike Crewdson or Jeff Wall

There is great joy in learning about a photographer that I was not familiar with. Beautiful. Great control of light and composition, as you say anchored in a great art history tradition! Lovely!

I didn’t know of her before and am very drawn to these compositions and the way light interacts with what and who is being photographed. Absolutely sublime! 🥰✨✨✨

Jessica was an MFA student with us at RIT, and I served as her MFA chair. We had a tight cohort of women photographers in this group, meeting regularly at my home, sharing food, and photographs in progress and exploring ideas that flowed from my' Family Album as Art' class. It was a pleasure.
