Great read, Andy! I really related to the homeplace section. I have also stayed put in the area around where I grew up, and I've come to realize that I don't *need* to leave in order to "make it." I like it here, and I'll travel elsewhere, but I can't justify leaving at this point in my life. Thanks for being vocal about that, truly. Good luck with planning out your project!

Cheers, Zach. That was a lesson learned slowly over time. In America, we have unrealistic expectations about how thing are supposed to go. The biggest lesson: Any place can be artistic when an artist is living there. Thanks for the note!

RJ Kern's work is very interesting especially seeing the children 4 years apart, and his use of antique processes.

Andy, all of America needs to become visible. It's great that you are making that connection with photography in the midwest. Wish I could attend. I mean lets be honest great photography can be done anywhere.

Wow, these are an amazing group of photographers that you've pulled together Andy. The mid-west certainly is filled with a lot of creative talent! I particularly love Keith Taylors work - I hadn't heard of him before so thank you for introducing his work to me.

Cheers, Aidan, thanks for looking. This exhibition and the other programs I've been organizing for this festival have been why I've been so out of touch lately! I'm looking forward to working with you on our post in October. And I'm glad to hear that Erinn's work resonates with you. Have you seen her book? She's amazingly talented. TNY published a great piece about her in 2023: https://www.newyorker.com/culture/photo-booth/a-tender-and-knowing-portrait-of-rural-life-in-wisconsin

I wish I could take the drive! I wish I had a US driver’s license :( But! If you happen to know anyone who is also coming from the same area and wouldn’t mind someone piggybacking along let me know! (^_^;)
