Thanks for introducing me to Henry. He hooked me when I saw his picture "West Texas Ghost Town, Lobo, 2023." That's the one with the sign that reads: "Keep Lonely Places Lonely" I stopped as I rode along US90 and shot the sign several ways but never could make my capture sing so I put it away. When I saw Henry's version, I grasp what I "had not done" right. So simple and honest. Henry did not overthink it like I did. I stopped buying photography books a few years back when our crammed book shelves ran out of space, but I will probably buy "Miles and Miles of Texas". I'll make room.
I’m not a Texan either my mom was, so I spent summer vacations when growing up. These images are extra special. Thanks for introducing me to Henry’s work! As my grandma Beulah used tosay, “I hope they didn’t put any possum meat in that barbecue.”
Learned the basics of photography from his Photography: A Basic Manual. Also used it to teach many photo classes at college and universities where I taught. Thanks Henry
Henry is a great teacher, photographer, writer, and art business person. Not all artists know how to get their work out into the world, beyond just having an exhibition. The Portfolio course Henry taught at RISD was one of the most useful - and enjoyable - in my BFA program decades ago. He showed us what he did to promote his work and expected us to do the same.

Loved Henry since he signed my copy of "Canine".
