Happy holidays!
One of the things I love most about Christmas is the holiday card. It’s such a simple gesture — personal, loving, exuding goodwill and cheer. We need more of these everyday moments of kindness in the world these days. Maybe now, more than ever.
Of course, a printed card with a handwritten note is the absolute best. It’s funny how personal penmanship can be and how warm it can make you feel to read something written by someone else’s hand. Typewritten sentiments aren’t the same.
I was looking through a stack of holiday cards photographers have sent me over the years and wishing I could do something similar. I’m not in a position to send 25,000 holiday cards this year (not to mention I don’t know your physical addresses!), but I’m feeling festive and wanted to send my regards to each of you.
We’re celebrating Christmas here in Madison today. Ours is a secular holiday; part of its pleasure comes from the cozy vibes we cultivate in our old little house. Ultimately, that’s what the holiday season is about — hunkering down with friends and loved ones and reflecting on what matters. However you celebrate the season, I hope it’s warm, festive, and happy. Take care, friends, and be well. ✨
